Far from the tumult of the city, isolated from the roads, the Backwaters inhabitants seem to live out of time. Their life is organized by daily tasks, field work, as well as the ferry trips coming from the city. We thus went out to meet these Keralese and discovered a universe where water is an integral part of the daily life: in the summer-time, the children play while the women wash and dress in the water canals, the fishermen and boatmen navigate the channels on their frayed dugouts. Paradoxically, the farming work in the fields is also very important. Discover the other side of the Backwaters, where a sort of easiness of life seems to have been transposed in these inhabitants' smiles.
