With their abandoned farm houses and their high cliff coastlines, Langanes and Raudanes peninsulas offer a desolate landscape : here, the coast skims the arctic polar circle. Further, we wandered through the Jökulsargljufur national park with its strange and eerie rock formations. Not to mention its deep canyon, in which the breathtaking Dettifoss and Hafragilfoss waterfalls plunge in. Finally, we reached the Myvatn and Kafla region, where craters, lava fields, gas and smoke give away the intense volcanic activity of the island.
